Wine is Tuscany's lifeblood, and nowhere is it stronger than at the Tenuta Torciano winery, where Pierluigi Giachi , the winemaker brings centuries of family tradition to a new age of winemaking. Here together with is wife Luciana, his son Emanuele, and daughter Vittoria, he continues the arts passed on by his ancestors who settled here in the 18th century.His passion reflects the history of this winery born three century ago. As 13thgeneration vinters, winemaking literally runs through Giachi's veins. Like his father before him, every first born of these 13 generations of Tuscan winemakers, has been taught to maintain the growth of the Giachi vineyards located among 5 estates in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. This experiences and passion are found in all wines of Giachi's family winery which has earned Italy's top classicification rating and carries major prestige worldwide.
The Tenuta Torciano was founded in 1720 by Bartolomeo Giachi. The Giachi Family originated in the Renaissance capital of Florence. Bartolomeo left Florence and moved to San Gimignano, eventually settling in the small town of Ulignano, as evidenced from the documents and reports that have been found.
This was to became a place to drink, to rest and to meditate for the thousands of pelgrims that passed here on their way to reach the capital of Rom.The Tenuta Torciano Location, near "Magione di Torri" brought trade and economic development to the Giachi Family through sales of WINE, CHIANTI, VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO, RED and WHITE TABLE WINE, and OLIVE OIL.
Bartolomeo passed down the ART AND PASSION OF WINE MAKING to his son Gaetano, who then passed it down to his son Angiolo and successively to Alfredo, Romano and Pierluigi Giachi. The contact to the pilgrim and priests that passed San Gimignano every day heavily influenced the religius attitude of the Bartolomeo's niece, Veronica Giachi, who entered the Convent of the Cappuccin Nuns of Siena, where, after some years, Veronica became MOTHER SUPERIOR.
