Ingredients
- 8 slices of sandwich bread
- 4 slices of cheese
- 40 g butter
- 150 g Parmigiano Reggiano
- Non-stick pan
- Knife
Method
Preparation
Before starting, make sure all ingredients are ready, as the preparation requires speed to prevent the bread from burning.
Assembly
Butter all slices of bread on one side only.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat without adding oil or other fats.
Place one slice of bread in the pan with the buttered side down and add a slice of cheese on top.
Cooking
Cover with another slice of bread and immediately flip the sandwich using a spatula or wooden utensils.
Turn it again after a couple of minutes, repeating the process several times to achieve even browning and allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread.
Finishing
When both sides are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, remove the sandwich from the pan.
Repeat the same process for the remaining sandwiches.
Serving
Cut the sandwiches diagonally before serving, as is traditionally done in the United States.
Serve with vegetable soup or fries for a more filling snack.
For a more authentic result, use cheddar cheese.
