Wine Description:

The Sangiovese, from the Latin "Sangius jovis", is the predominant grape-variety in this wine and the calm, elegant characteristics of the Cabernet give this wine ample olfactory complexity and greater strength to both body and flavor. The color is deep ruby red, tending to garnet with age. With a dry, full and smooth flavor, rich with personality and well structured, complete and elegant, with an evidently aristocratic character; hints of wood can be perceived amidst the typical herbaceous notes.

The prime quality and structure of this wine demand excellent first courses and risottos with sauces made from wild boar and hare, tasty red meat dishes such as roast game, vegetable soufflé and spicy mature cheeses.

Wine Cellar:

Tenuta Torciano Winery is situated in the heart of Tuscany, 35 minutes from Florence and 20 minutes from Siena, surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and a succession of unique greenery that features towering cypress trees, long stretches of beautiful vineyards, olive groves, forests of oaks and lovely villages.

When you visit Tenuta Torciano Winery, you will totally immerse yourself in Italian culture, together with a Tuscan family consisting of 13 generations of wine producers. Here you will experience warm hospitality and additional Tuscan traditions handed down from father to son.

Area of Production:

Located in central Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast, Tuscany is home to some of the world's most notable wine regions. Toscana IGT is the most famous – and the most commonly used – of Italy's Indicazione Geografica Tipica (IGT) titles. The geographical region it indicates is, in short, Tuscany.

Toscana IGT wines can be made in any village in any of Tuscany's 10 provinces.

Grapes:

Cabernet – Sangiovese blended wines are one of the success stories of 20th-Century Italian winemaking. The blend balances the distinctive black-cherry and wild-berry flavors of Sangiovese against the structure and power of Cabernet Sauvignon. the blend represents modern Italian winemaking, making up some of Italy's most famous wines.

13 Generations:

Bartolomeo Giachi handed down the art of making and producing wine to his son Emanuele who, in turn, passed the skills on to his son Gaetano, then to his son Angelo, followed by Alfredo Romano and then finally Pierluigi Giachi. Various contacts were historically maintained with clerics who passed through San Gimignano daily in order to reach the Holy City. Influenced by this religious exposure, Bartolomeo’s niece Veronica Giachi partook in intense meditation and then took vows at the Convent of the Capuchin Nuns of the Clausura Siena, later becoming Abbess Mother Superior. Although the years have passed, the love for cultivation of the land and production of wine, as well as the continued presence of travelers (now called tourists), have remained a constant inside the estates of Tenuta Torciano and the Giachi family.
