Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1¼ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1¼ cups red wine
Instructions
Prepare the Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Mix the Batter
In a separate mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugar for 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
Combine
On low speed, gradually add the dry ingredients alternating with the red wine. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Bake
Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and grease a cake pan with butter. Pour in the batter and bake for about 45 minutes.
Cool
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve
Dust with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant finish.
