Ingredients
- 450 g (1 lb) ground turkey
- 450 g (1 lb) Italian turkey sausage
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 700 g (25 oz) marinara sauce
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil (or fresh, for serving)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Pasta of choice
- Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
Prepare the Base
In a large pot, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat.
Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery with a pinch of salt. Cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
Cook the Meat
Add the ground turkey and turkey sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
Season lightly with salt and pepper, and cook for about 10 minutes until browned and fully cooked.
Simmer the Sauce
Stir in the marinara sauce and oregano.
Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to develop.
Cook the Pasta
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain.
Serve
Toss the pasta with the turkey Bolognese sauce.
Finish with fresh basil and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
