Pairings: Baked fish dishes, fresh or medium-aged cheeses, enhancing their flavor, and white meats.

Wine Cellar:

San Quirico Azienda Agricola in San Gimignano began selling bottled wine in 1974, establishing itself in the best national and international markets.
Thanks to the use of modern technologies such as the pneumatic press, blast chiller, and a careful but moderate use of the finest French oak barrels, we are able to give our wines character and elegance that reflect the San Gimignano terroir and bring satisfaction to our constant work.

Area of Production:

The production area is characterised by a Mediterranean climate with rather dry summers, not particularly harsh winters and rainfall concentrated in two periods: April/May and November, with temperatures varying from -5°C to +37°C. The area benefits from good ventilation all year round and only rarely is it cloaked in fog.

The San Gimignano area is very well suited to winegrowing. The main appellation is Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, flanked by San Gimignano Doc. These two wines are specific to the territory. There are also vineyards for the production of Chianti, Chianti Colli Senesi and IGT Toscana.

Grapes:

Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a grape variety which was first cultivated on the hills of San Gimignano in clay schist soils dating back to the Pliocene era. It was the first grape variety to be awarded, in 1966, the Denomination of Controlled Origin and in 1993, the D.O.C.G.

Vernaccia-based wine from San Gimignano has a long history, and since the Renaissance period has been considered one of Italy’s oldest and most noble wines. Its fame has no doubt been strongly connected to its region of origin, San Gimignano – an ancient Tuscan town famed for its medieval towers.
