What You Can Expect:
- Demonstrations by Torciano wine's experts from vineyards and cellars will give you a lot of information about the plants and the cultivation of the vines as well as the weather conditions of the seasons and how they affect the fruits, and explain and walk you through the winemaking processes, touching upon all the senses—from the facets of touching (the physical actions involved) to the smelling and tasting tactics required to produce outstanding wines.
- Direct involvement in making wine. You can get your scissors and your crates and start collecting grapes assisted by your expert and when possible, with other winemakers around.
- Time to indulge in well-deserved breaks for daily lunches directly in our vineyards.
- Winemaker-guided field trips to vineyards and our wineries in full harvest mode, where you’ll also experience firsthand the transformation of grapes (that you will just have harvested) into the beginnings of a wine. You will see all the machinery involved in the process, to understand the wine-making process in detail. From the destemming to the fermentation casks you will learn in detail how the grape juice is transformed into wine.
- Exposure to and wine tasting from top Torciano wines while those grapes are being crushed, pressed and fermented.
- Meet owners and wine instructors who are typically not available, particularly during harvest, and taste wines that they reserve for their top clients while gleaning insights and explanations of their process that few are privy to.
- A winemaker dinner in the vineyards winery settings where you’ll socializing, network and revel in the day’s experiences.
An Educational Journey Our instructors will teach you how to taste wine just like the professionals, which will give you a sense of confidence and impart the vocabulary to up your tasting game. You’ll dive deep into an Instructor-led “Understanding Tuscan Wines ” course that covers all of the valley’s Tuscan Viticultural Areas . At the end of this riveting day, you’ll possess a new appreciation of all the passion, the artistry and the processes that go into producing the very best wines of Tenuta Torciano winery.
Classes and Costs Classes are taught at our winery Tenuta Torciano in San Gimignano , Tuscany, Italy and lessons extend beyond the wine room to field study trips where you’ll find yourself in vineyards learning about viticulture, then in wineries and working cellars where you’ll learn winemaking first-hand.
