Discover the wonderful vineyards of Tenuta Torciano in an adventurous way! Upon your arrival at Tenuta Torciano you will be greeted by a family member and you will enjoy a "safari" adventure with our 4x4 Jeep to discover the vineyards of the winery where Vernaccia di San Gimignano and Chianti are produced. Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a vine grown on the hills of San Gimignano and was the first variety to have obtained, in 1966, the Denomination of Controlled Origin and in 1993 the D.O.C.G. Body, freshness and flavor are due to the particular conformation of the soil of San Gimignano, an extraordinary amalgam of sands and above all clays. The vineyards destined for Vernaccia are all in ventilated areas: they range from an altitude of 200 meters up to 400, ideal conditions for producing high quality wines.
Chianti wine is produced with selected Sangiovese Grosso grapes from vineyards planted over 15 years ago, located on hilly terrain in polychrome schist at an altitude of 500m a.s.l. The color is intense, clear ruby red, tending to garnet with aging. It has an intense aroma with a slight aroma of violet. Its harmonious, dry, savory and slightly tannic flavor has refined over time to become soft and velvety.
You will learn all the secrets of this territory: where the vines grow, the pruning and all the vinification and aging processes, from the vineyard to the bottle. The main goal of vine pruning is to maintain constant production, a balance between the vegetative activity of the plant and fruiting. Regular and correct pruning also helps keep the vineyard healthy. There are two types of vine pruning, the winter one, or dry pruning, with which the winemaker keeps the control system set in quantity and quality of the product, acting on the load of buds left on each plant, and summer pruning, also called pruning. green, with which we mean all the interventions that allow to regulate the development of the crown of the vine by balancing the relationship between the leaf surface and the production.
You will immerse yourself in nature, in the spectacular spiral vineyards of Tenuta Torciano, which show a harmonious succession of rows arranged in a spiral that surround a central stone platform designed for intimate tastings. Then you will visit the cellar's olive grove, where our precious olive oil is produced, and our private truffle forest where you can find precious underground mushrooms all year round. After the visit you will enjoy an aperitif with a picnic that includes our wines and the “friselle” with tomatoes and extra virgin olive oil. All in front of a splendid view of the medieval village of San Gimignano with its imposing towers. Once you return to the main cellar, you will enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch sitting in one of the beautiful rooms inside the cellar or in the outdoor area of the garden. The lunch consists of four courses and our Chef will surprise you with a top quality combination of wine and food. The winery experience consists of a vertical tasting of 13 Tuscan wines and gourmet products and you will be followed by our Sommelier, who will explain the secret of the art of tasting wine with different types of food.
