Wine Description:

Bolgheri Gioiello is characterized by a vibrant ruby red color, enriched with violet reflections. Its intensely fruity bouquet reveals hints of blackberry, blueberry and light, spicy nuances of leather and tobacco. This gorgeous blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah grapes is a wine of great structure with soft, velvety tannins present, and excellent persistence.

The prime quality of this wine makes it a wonderful accompaniment to red meats, especially traditional Florentine steak. It also pairs beautifully with first courses, roasted game such as wild boar or hare, rich risottos, vegetable souffle and spicy, mature cheeses.

Area of Production:

Bolgheri is an Italian appellation located in the Maremma on the Tuscan coast just to the south of Livorno. It is known mainly for deeply coloured, supple yet ageworthy red wines, usually based on the Bordeaux grape varieties. The winemaking zone features sloping coastal vineyards close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The sunny, dry and breezy climate of Bolgheri and the stony soils with clay patches have attracted further vineyard expansion mostly focusing on red Bordeaux varieties.

Bolgheri DOC red wine is one of the types of wine included in the Bolgheri DOC denomination, a DOC of the region. The specifications of the DOC denominations include specific types of wine, which are characterized by the vines allowed for their production, the winemaking procedures and the specific organoleptic characteristics of the wine. The vines that fall into the composition of the Bolgheri DOC red wine are Cabernet sauvignon 0-100%, Merlot 0-100%, Cabernet franc 0-100%, Syrah 0-50%, Sangiovese 0-50%.
