The San Gimignano area is very well suited to winegrowing. The main appellation is Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, flanked by San Gimignano Doc. These two wines are specific to the territory. There are also vineyards for the production of Chianti, Chianti Colli Senesi and IGT Toscana.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a grape variety which was first cultivated on the hills of San Gimignano in clay schist soils dating back to the Pliocene era. It was the first grape variety to be awarded, in 1966, the Denomination of Controlled Origin and in 1993, the D.O.C.G.
Vernaccia-based wine from San Gimignano has a long history, and since the Renaissance period has been considered one of Italy’s oldest and most noble wines. Its fame has no doubt been strongly connected to its region of origin, San Gimignano – an ancient Tuscan town famed for its medieval towers.
"GOLDVINE" by Tenuta Torciano is a wine with a beautiful dark red color that leaves room for nuances of intriguing spices that blend harmoniously with the bouquet. An intensely Tuscan wine that contains oak accents and spicy nuances like black cherries, licorice, blackberry, black pepper, leather and hints of dark chocolate that enhance its character. Sumptuousness is a core of pure fruit, surrounded by a solid structure and salty nuances Enclosed in a jewel-bottle, with a bronze silhouette that recalls the typical Tuscan art such as the David di Donatello of the City of Florence.
